Exploring the Use of Tools to Support Distributed and Large Agile Teams


This project is funded by a grant from CRA-W and NSF. It's mission is to investigate the use of lightweight tools to help large or distributed team adopt agile methodologies effectively.

Question #1: Can widgets/gadgets effectively push information to the team like big visible charts? We will investigate this question by building widgets that push information like build status onto every team members desktop. Publishing these widgets through SourceForge will allow us to gain feedback from the agile community.

Question #2: How can widgets/gadgets manage the immediate communication agility requires when the team is not co-located? To begin to answer this question, we will research strategies that agile teams use for knowing who to talk to about a particular subject. Then we will design widgets that support those strategies and ask the agile community for feedback on that design
